Ever had those moments where you lay down on your bed, and then suddenly your brain wanders around? Those times when you're all tucked out - about to lay in bed, then you get hit with a ton of ideas. On one side, you don't want to work on it since you're sleepy. But on the other side, those are great ideas! It would be a shame if you don't work on it - and worse, you might even forget about it!
If so, you should do what I do - and keep a notepad right beside your bed! Sure, it'll be tiring going up and noting down your ideas. But, in my opinion, it helps since you can now offload those thoughts to a more permanent medium and not risk forgetting about it in the morning. (Not to mention that getting tired IS also good when wanting to sleep!)
But some of you might be saying, "Oh - but Melody, humans have invented smartphones! Why use a notepad?" Well, I can think of two against that:
One, even with a blue light filter, and low brightness. Light that comes from phones are often harsher on the eyes than traditional fuel-powered bedside lamps. (From what I know anyways! I'm not too familiar with human technology yet - we still use fireflies as light source for lamps back in Equus. I even heard that these fuel-powered lamps are becoming obsolete!) It's much easier on the eye if one uses the natural light of the moon, or a lamp.
Two... well, it's simply pony things - I guess? While we do have automatic spell crystals - those don't do very well when it comes to dynamic and precise tasks. That's why most of the time, we do things manually - magic or not - as it helps us be closer to what we're working with. Earth ponies will prefer using their hooves to tend with their crops, Pegasi using their wings to adjust the weather, and Unicorns preferring using their magic instead of crystals. (I still use a notepad to draft these blog posts!)
It doesn't we don't try though! I have heard of two sales ponies trying to sell their invention that, and I quote, "Converts those bubbling thoughts into writing!" Sadly, it had lots of issues. The helmet they use just grabs anything to use as the writing utensil, words come out as jumbled mess. Not to mention that simply using it for minutes caused the whole thing to overhead and explode! Definitely caused a loss of interest on that department.
(However. Ever since I have found out about online shopping here at Earth, there is no way I would go back to traditional shopping for alfalfa. This is way too convenient!)
Anyways, even if it might not work - it doesn't hurt to try if you're able to! If you have any ideas while in bed, set down the phone and use a notepad instead to take notes!
That's my thoughts for today, see you on the next post! ^_^ /)
